Women representatives of Indian heritage from varied backgrounds and age groups were selected for oral interviews in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Formulated questions on social issues, cultural issues, and life experiences were utilized to record their memories and perspectives while living in America. The Indian immigrant women were from varied professional and semi-professional backgrounds such as doctors, lawyers, chartered accountants, college professors, school teachers, computer programmers, and homemakers of different age groups.
Following was the broad range of questions asked of the women:
o Age, level of education, occupation, number of years living in the United States.
o Everyday life experiences and memories in the workplace and public space.
o Issues with language, accents, family and relations while living in the United States.
o Perspectives and comments about their lives in the United States.
