National Disability Awareness/Empowerment Month

Ability Maricopa is the official affinity resource group for employees with disabilities and allies within the Maricopa County Community College District. The purpose of Ability Maricopa is to assist and support the Mission and Vision of the Maricopa Community Colleges by providing a safe, welcoming social group, raising awareness of, and advocating for people with disabilities.

Maricopa Community Colleges is committed to the academic success of our students, and we understand that basic needs have a direct impact on the well-being and success of our students. Basic needs can include food, housing, transportation, wellness, and other important services. This page is meant to help connect students and their families to basic needs information and resources, and it will evolve as more resources are added.

Are you needing assistance with change, stress, and/or self-development? These are all a part of college life. The counseling departments at each of the Maricopa Community Colleges provide confidential services to help students manage change and stress, overcome problems of the past and present, and gain self-understanding and direction.

Equality Maricopa Board represents the Maricopa Community Colleges’ employees and students who identify and/or are allies for employees and students of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) connects federal and select private-sector employers nationwide with college students, graduate students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through internships or permanent jobs.

The NCCSD is the only federally-funded national center in the U.S. with information and resources for future and current college students with disabilities, including those in part-time programs and graduate students. We work with students, their families, teachers, professors, and anyone with questions about disability and higher education. We’re here for you.
