Quick Guide to Honors Projects
for PVCC Students & Faculty

Accounting Student with a goal of owning an autobody shop. 3 Texts on how to create a business plan, 2 auto hobby articles on trends, and interviews with body shop owners 9 page business plan with emphasis on the fiscal and accounting aspects of the proposed autobody shop Presentation of 4 minute business plan at Honors Showcase with poster
Student Responsibilities: Professor  Responsibilities:

❏ Participate in Honors Project Community Canvas Module

❏ Brainstorm topic ideas and formats before approaching the professor

❏ Fully complete contact form with the professor

❏ Come prepared to share progress and ask questions at pre-set meeting dates with professor

❏ Spend a minimum of 20 hours (outside of class and meetings with the professor) on the project

❏ Complete all assignments in the Honors Project Community Canvas Module

❏ Complete all requirements as agreed upon in project contract

❏ Communicate your Honors Showcase time slot to your professor so that they can stop by if their teaching schedule allows

❏ Present poster at the Honors Showcase the Wednesday of the last week of classes (Make arrangements now to be sure you have this day free)

❏ Complete project contract with the student and set expectations

❏ Keeping in mind the established minimums the professor will determine:

❏ Types of Scholarly sources to be used ❏ Number of sources

❏ Length of the written document

❏ Formatting style for the written document

❏ Any additional expectations (i.e. classroom presentations)

❏ Progress meeting dates and times

❏ Penalty for non-completion (minimum: loss of honors designation for the course)

❏ Meet with the student at pre-set dates and times provide general subject matter guidance and advice

❏ Optional but suggested: Attend Honors Showcase to view student project

❏ Fill out google form at the end of the semester stating if the project met expectations and should or should not be given the honors designation
