Veterans Day

This guide provides information on Veterans Day which is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

Messages of Gratitude

The Veterans Office welcomes you to leave a message of gratitude to our Veteran students, staff, and community in anticipation of Veterans Day 2024. Messages will be posted on our website and in the Veterans Lounge this November. To leave a message- scan the QR code in the flyer- or follow this link.

Messages can include your name, or remain anonymous and will be collected through October 11, 2024.

Maricopa Community Colleges would like to say Happy Veterans Day to all the students, faculty, staff, and community members who have served our country.

The colleges around the District will be hosting various activities from November 7th through the 11th. Please join us as we honor our veterans. 

 

Phoenix College

  • Nov 8: Career & Resource fair. 45 employers and resources will be present - Sophomore Square - 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

  • Nov 10: Veterans Appreciation Breakfast - Student Union/Patio - 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

 

Estrella Mountain Community College

  • Nov 10 : Branch movies - Veterans Lounge - 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon.

  • Nov 11: Veterans Day Ceremony & Fitness Fun Run. Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. Visit https://www.estrellamountain.edu/vetfunrun for more information.

 

Mesa Community College

  • Nov 8:  Veterans Day Lunch - S&D Main Campus - 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

  • Nov 10: Trail Run/Walk - Red Mountain Campus - 12:30 p.m.

Glendale Community College

  • Nov 7: Movies and popcorn – Veterans Center lounge - 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • Nov 8: Movies and popcorn – Veterans Center lounge - 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • Nov 9: Veterans Day appreciation barbeque - games, music, Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services, and college support swag tables - GCC Main Campus Center Mall (outside of Student Union Hall – 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

 

South Mountain Community College

  • Nov 7: Support gathering where military-affiliated students can come to the Veterans Center to learn about resources. - Veterans Center - 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

  • Nov 8: Employee Appreciation. A treat to show our faculty and staff how much we appreciate their academic support throughout the year. - Veterans Center - 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

  • Nov 10: Movie Day! Join us as we watch Major Payne! Popcorn will be served. - Veterans Center - 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

  • Nov 7 – 10: POW/MIA Table and donation drive (clothing and money will be donated to the MANA House) - Donation box will be located in Veterans Center. 

 

Chandler-Gilbert Community College

  • Nov 9: Veterans Appreciation Breakfast - Bridget Hall Lounge (Williams Campus) - 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

  • Nov 7 - 10: Veterans Honor Run - Chandler-Gilbert's Williams Campus. The course will be available on demand for students, staff, and faculty to participate. Students can register through Coyote Connect (https://cgc.campuslabs.com/engage/event/8550245).

 

Scottsdale Community College

  • Nov 10: Veterans Day Appreciation - SCC ICC Building - 9:00 a.m.

 

GateWay Community College

  • Nov 9: 

    • Flag Raising Ceremony, 2.2 Mile Run/Walk -  Courtyard Area- 7:00 a.m -   9:00 a.m.

    • Luncheon with Speakers' Panel - MA Building, Room 1100 - 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

    • Physical Fitness fun event - Courtyard Area- 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

 

Paradise Valley Community College

  • Paradise Valley Community College will be sending thank you cards to veteran students, faculty and staff.
