Community Borrowers @ the Buxton Library: Home

Welcome to the Buxton Library @ PVCC

The Buxton Library is open to community members.  As an academic library, we operate differently and have different types of materials that are not normally found at a public library.  Specifically, our collection is chosen to support the curriculum, students and faculty.  Our hours of operation are based on class schedules and vary between semesters and in the summer.  Community members are expected to abide by the Library’s policies (see Services & User Policies) and failure to do so may result in ejection, suspension of Library privileges and/or arrest.

Loan Periods/Late Fees

Loan periods and borrowing guidelines common to all Maricopa Community Colleges

You may have up to 5 items checked out at one time. Check-out of non-book items (DVDs, CDs, & audiobooks) are limited to 3 per patron--in addition, non-book items have a variable check-out time and some non-book items are Library use only. Look on the case for the loan period or ask at the Circulation Desk.

Returning Materials:  All materials can be returned directly to the library. Books may be dropped into the Book Drop located outside in front of A building.  Please do not put media (CDs, DVDs, etc.) in this outside Book Drop but rather return directly to the Library or the Book Drop located in the E-Building hallway outside the east doors of the library.

Overdue Notices:  An e-mail account will be generated when you get your ID card.  This e-mail will be used to notify you of overdue items. Failure to receive an overdue notice, for whatever reason, does not remove or negate your responsibility for meeting the due date or paying subsequent fines.  Until fees are paid, a hold will be placed on the patrons record and Library privileges will be suspended.

Community Borrower ID Cards/Library Cards

Community members who are Maricopa County residents may borrow materials from the PVCC Library at no charge with a Community Borrower's ID card. The Community Borrower's card is valid at most of the Maricopa Community College libraries, dependent on each library's community borrower policies. The Community Borrower's card must be presented to check out materials and to print/copy.
