The Internet is full of valuable information pertaining to creating strategies to achieve academic success. The Internet also contains just as much misleading or incorrect information.
As a student, it is best to use certain types of websites for your academic research. Domain names (for example, .com, .edu, .gov, .org) of websites are useful in telling an Internet user what type of website you may be viewing. Typically, a website ending with .edu or .gov is highly trusted and considered valid by academic professionals. A .edu website will typically be an institute of higher learning (like paradisevalley.edu), and a .gov website will be representing a state or local U.S. government agency or organization (www.colorado.gov and www.USA.gov are examples of government websites).
When curious if a website or web resource is valid, simply ask your instructor, or email a librarian here at the PVCC library, we are here to help!
