College success for first-year students is a multifaceted concept. It involves engagement, self-analysis, personal responsibility, and making use of student support 1. The first year is crucial as it establishes the trajectory for the rest of the college journey 2. Key elements of success include attending orientation programs, participating in first-year seminars, interacting with faculty, using campus services, and taking advantage of early warning systems for academic difficulties 2. Additionally, learning communities and student success initiatives, such as courses on how to use campus resources, manage time, study effectively, and set goals, play a significant role 2.
