Native American Indian & Alaskan Heritage

Welcome to the Native American/Indian & Alaskan American Indian Heritage research guide which celebrates the culture and heritage of remarkable Americans who deeply enrich the quality and character of our Nation. This guide celebrates the Native American/Indian & Alaskan heritage with its wonderful diversity of American Indian and Alaska Native cultures and peoples while remembering and honoring our veterans who have sacrificed so much to defend our nation. As far back as 12,000 years ago, indigenous cultures made their home in what, today, we affectionately call Arizona. These early inhabitants settled into villages throughout the diverse regions of Arizona, giving formation to tribes such as the Ancestral Puebloans, Hohokam, Mogollon, and Patayan people.
