Borderlands Theater is a professional theater company recognized nationally and internationally for the development and production of theater and educational programs that reflect the diverse voices of the U.S./ Mexico border region.

For more than a decade Teatro Bravo has been producing plays that tell the complex story of the Latin American experience in the United States. The ethnic theater troupe performs in both Spanish and English, making it a mission to employ and develop the emerging talents of the Valley's Latino actors, directors, playwrights and designers. Though the material always relates back to the Latino-American experience, Teatro Bravo's shows are by no means narrow in scope of topic. They've produced everything from socially conscious stories of contemporary people to biographies of public figures, and then again it could be something funny, a well-loved classic or even an artistic spectacle. Latino theatre presents a wide range of aesthetic approaches, dramatic structures, and themes, ranging from love, romance, immigration, border politics, nation-building, incarceration, and social justice. Whether of a linguistic, ethnic, political, cultural, or sexual nature, the plays often have a social justice component involving Latino/a people living in the United States.

Teatro Tariakuri, Theatre Co., was founded in 2004 by actress/director Karla Galvan to address the lack of opportunities for spanish speaking artists and other artists of color, and to explore the new work of Latino writers that challenged not only the actor and director, but also the audience.

LTC was founded in 1985 with the goal to establish a theater company dedicated to contributing new stories and novel methods of expression for the American theater repertoire and to increase artistic opportunities for underserved communities. As the company has evolved, our role as the lease-holder of the LATC has become critical to our mission. As we continue to explore the U.S. Latina/o/x experience in bold and contemporary terms, we program our Fall and Spring Seasons with work by local playwrights that speaks to important issues and highlights new voices within the Latina/o/x, First Nation, Black, Asian American, Jewish American and LGBTQ+ communities.

The 50 Playwrights Project supports Latin@ playwrights by creating digital resources, disseminating research, and supporting new play development.
